Trish Cubias - Texas
When I was first introduced to AdvoCare in January 2004, I weighed 450 pounds. I was not very receptive to learning about AdvoCare, until I went to a Mixer. For months I went on and off the products. I lost 30 pounds but wasn’t truly committed.
That all changed in the fall of 2004 when my mother passed away. She weighed 550 pounds and by late August of 2004, was hospitalized twice with trouble breathing. The doctors said it was too late – there was nothing they could do. She was too heavy and her body had just given up. On Sept. 5, 2004, at age 52, my mother passed away in her sleep - she just stopped breathing.
On October 3, 2004, I received the death certificate which stated my mother’s cause of death was morbid obesity and sleep apnea. This was the awakening moment for me. I knew now I had to make a change – I had to do it for myself and for her.
The day after receiving my mother’s death certificate, I drove more than 200 miles to see my AdvoCare sponsor and started a plan to focus on fitness, nutrition and supplements. I never looked back.
As of July 1, 2009, I've lost 292 pounds! The journey has not been easy. Temptation is all around me, every day, as I have a career in the food and beverage industry. Because forward progress cannot be made by looking in the rear view mirror, I continue to persevere. My constant focus is being trim and healthy. I take it one day at a time – and not a day goes by without prayer and AdvoCare!
Like anyone, some days are harder than others. Some days I just want to give in and eat what I want to eat – or I don’t feel like going to the gym. But I do it – music helps me get motivated. I turn on my iPod® and get to work. Working out is my time to work through the stresses in life that could cause me to overeat.
My goal is to be fit for life. I’ve come this far and have gone through too much work to ever go back.
